DCOs are driven from single source, being one VCO and dividers. Simple oscillator made with CMOS logic gates (4-input dual NAND, AFAIR) has only few semitones tuning range generating about 4MHz signal for 12 dividers made of 40103. 12 frequencies go to DCO section, which is actually a bunch of multiplexes and dividers choosing one frequency/division set according to Generator Controller data.
